Winslow vs Schiano

Recently Kellen Winslow appeared in an interview on a site Real Rob Report (http://www.realrobreport.com/) speaking on his first impression on new Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Greg Schiano. As a Buccaneer fan, just hearing some of his statements,  how he felt like the Bucs should have not fired Raheem Morris and how Schiano methods were basically to hard from what I was gathering from him. It just seemed that Schiano is installing the discipline that was missing under Morris’ care.

Under Morris watch the team fell apart, half the team was not responding, and second half of the season we witness team was just going through the motion to finish the season. I am not going sit here and say that I did not like Morris, but his methods of being a players coach and defending the action of the team slacking off was not setting them up into a positive direction. Yes I bought into the stats do not matter and all that matter is that W, but at the end of the day if the stats do not pile up, victories will always be boarder line or on the negative end. Seeing a team be one game from the playoffs the previous year to lucky enough to finish a game without the other team going into triple digits was embarrassing. This not little league football where the coach tells you just go out there and have fun, you are a professional athlete getting paid to put fans in the stands and help your team better themselves to get to the ultimate goal .Winslow little fit about actually having to work during OTA is ridiculous. Did he expect to walk into camp with everyone laughing and smiling like last year record was not 4-12.

Now look at how this off-season started with the Bucs this year, they have filled in needed holes through free agency and the draft. If one looks at the methods of Schiano, he is on the road of installing that missing sense of discipline from how Winslow described the OTA. One can also look from the outside of him cleaning house and making it clear his intentions for the team. These are all signs that one is really trying to break into the positive, now all we can do is wait for the season and see if his methods transition into the season and on the field.
